Sherika Sherard
Songwriter | Breathe

Through songwriting Sherika vows to encourage the conversations that make us vulnerable.

Born and raised in South London, it was after listening to Marvin Gaye, Sherika came to realize she also wanted to discover her deepest emotions through performance and songwriting.

After dropping out of University Sherika decided to put her faith and determination to the test by becoming a full-time busker, as well as becoming a well-known performer on the London music scene regularly invited onto the stages of many prestigious venues including Ronnie Scott's, Jazz Cafe, Shoreditch House and The Century Club, Sherika went on to take several international bookings including The Seychelles, Senegal, Norway and the USA.

While busking on the London Waterloo Southbank, Sherika was also paid a visit by Seal , they performed two duets together and he went on to invite her to open for 2 of his shows at Old Royal Naval College (London) and Cirque Royal (Brussels). Legendary Film director Spike Lee has also shown his appreciation after personally picking her original songs “We Don’t Need a Reason” and “When I Give You My Love” to feature on both his Netflix Spin-Off series of “She’s Gotta Have it”.

In the uncertain year of 2020, Sherika played her first lead role in the film ‘PHEA’ a modern take on the classic Greek myth Orpheus. Funded by the BFI the feature film is now available to stream on Amazon Prime. All songs featured in the film were written and performed by Sherika.

Sherika now produces her own music and it has been used in many adverts including Hyundai’s Ioniq 5. She is also a frequent streamer on Twitch and performed for their closing ceremony at Twitch Con. She is a clear example of how much the industry has changed, with a strong connection to her fans and regularly performing and interacting with new ones, she is a personality people can relate to.
